We are almost in time "markets" and many people are considering the possibility of going into a city just to attend these events ... people opting for a hit and run, choosing destinations closer to home, like Trent, Bolzano Innsbruck or at most ... but there are those who, taking advantage of the nearby bridge on 8 December, is planning a real little vacation.
Among the many German cities that host a Weihnachtsmarkt is also Nuremberg, where it says it takes the most famous in Germany.
Beyond the market, which I do not care particularly, Nuremberg is a city that I was impressed most during our vacation in Germany.
prefer to postpone to another date, however, my ratings on the city to provide at the time, practical advice about our accommodation in the city.
Strangely it was one of the few times we have booked a room without breakfast, which cost as much in proportion to the price paid for the room only.
We opted for a solution fairly central, although outside the entrance doors are all'Altstadt, or the old town, but practical. In about 15 minutes to the city center and train station is a few minutes, then good for those that did not go to Nuremberg by car .
The hotel is not exceptional, I must admit, but we appreciated the cleanliness, quietness and brightness of the room. We
a room overlooking the courtyard (and on the terrace of the nearby ...) which can be accessed after a pleasant route corridor (much better looking, from a design point of view, the room itself!). Crossing the threshold was
a small hallway with a window and then dropped a small step on the left opened up the room, lit by two tall windows. The decor of the room should be revised, perhaps have done well since our visit was in 2008, although there are a very large comfortable bed with headboard that doubles as a shelf, a cabinet without doors, with wooden hangers (and who follows the transmission on Sky B & B on the English know how much importance they placed ...), a desk with a small television.
order to give meaning to the name " Arthotel City there were also paintings on the walls. Ok, a touch of color, but here, they were not exactly to my taste ...
The pros are definitely the parquet floor, the presence of a plant (makes the atmosphere more hospitable) and light entering through the windows, over the space of the room. The cons are the only German TV channel (Although I will always look very happy), the classic double duvet rather than double (the same as for the TV channels) and the bottle of mineral water in Germany.
Keep in mind. The German mineral water, primarily natural, it is often a real crap. A sort of sparkling evaporated. That crisp, however, there Frizzera well in the nose ...!
Returning to the bedroom, the bathroom does not stand out in style, it is quite anonymous, all white. The shower was very well: rather new, well kept, with a powerful jet and space inside also to leave several vials. The sink, however, beyond a small shelf space had nothing on which to leave their toiletries.
L ' hotel in general has made me a good impression. We booked through the Booking and we even spent less than budgeted because the theory has proved to pay parking free (this is an open space just around the corner, next to the railroad).
The facility is very nice inside ... the common areas, although they are not furnished with designer furniture, but Ikea, are very comfortable and cared for. On the whole there is relaxed and friendly atmosphere, in which the coexistence of the lift is not at odds with modern wooden stairs creaking.
The reception is open until 22. The guy who greeted us was very courteous and helpful even to listen to my elementary German without annoyed. I understand that on a map where to park and gave us all the information.
Every time we cross has always greeted warmly and with a smile!
The district in which it is located, as anticipated, is not in the Altstadt, rejected this proposal but not for that reason alone. Turkish shops around there, small shops, you live in a really genuine and although we Italians are not used to this promiscuity, Germany is also this. We saw some homeless near the supermarket (I think mainly because many of them carrying plastic bottles for the deposit), but if the local people does not care, leaving their children to walk safely, why should we have a problem farcene ?
Okay, I'm about to start a pistolotto that when traveling it is foolish to try to be alone in their golden world, but it does not seem the case.
The nearest supermarket is practical to stop and buy expensive water before going into the pedestrian zone (with half-liter bottles at 2 Euros) and buy something for breakfast on the fly .
For those wishing to visit the city in the summer I can recommend to have breakfast in the center, or in Königstraße Hauptmarkt at the self service House Bread , using the tables outside to enjoy cakes, pastries and drinks.
For those who go in winter is perhaps useful to evaluate the possibility to have breakfast at the hotel, the breakfast room, ground floor, was very beautiful.
